by John Gibson on Carl May
Private Pilot and Instrument

Carl has been my primary Cirrus flight instructor for over the past year. Carl trained me for my Private Pilot License to my recently obtained Instrument Rating. He was not only a fantastic instructor but a wonderful person. I am retired and there are many years separating Carl and myself but I never had a problem relating to Carl. He was honest, patient and professional and most important had the ability to explain concepts simply and understandably. He was always there to provide me with constructive suggestions and on the days that just didn't go so well with the necessary support so as not to get too discouraged. On one of my first flights I had a problem prior to takeoff where Carl had to quickly take control of the plane. I was expecting to be yelled at but Carl just patiently said " John don't worry lets talk about it later after out flight". If you are looking for an instructor and can get on his schedule I am sure you will be soon writing a similar review. Thanks. John

What is rewarding to you about being a CFI?

Aviation has always been a passion of mine and being able to help other achieve their goals in aviation is what makes my job so rewarding. Someone once said,” You will never work a day in your life if you love what you do” and that stands true for me. I enjoy creating and building relationships in aviation and providing the highest level of customer service while practicing safety and having fun.
