Commercial Flight Training

Launch Your Career as a Professional Pilot

Our Commercial Pilot License (CPL) program is your pathway to a rewarding career in aviation. With a CPL, you can be compensated for your flying skills, opening doors to opportunities in fields like charter flying, aerial tours, agriculture, and eventually, major airlines.

Designed for dedicated aviators ready to take their skills to a professional level, this program provides the advanced training, expertise, and qualifications needed to succeed as a commercial pilot.

Why Earn a Commercial Pilot License?

A CPL allows you to work as a professional pilot and be compensated for your flights. Whether you’re aiming to become a flight instructor, work for a regional airline, or eventually transition to major airline positions, a commercial license is an essential credential. This program builds on your existing PPL skills and adds advanced maneuvers, precision, and safety skills that make you a confident, well-rounded pilot ready for a professional setting.

Time Building

Assuming you earn your Private Pilot Certificate and Instrument Rating in the FAA minimum amount of time, you will have about 84 flight hours. To earn your Commercial Pilot License, the FAA requires a minimum of 250 hours of flight time. Students who spent more than the minimum flight time on their Private and Instrument will not need to do as much time building. The pricing estimates below compensate for the non-training flight time needed before completing your Commercial Pilot’s License.

Program Requirements

To begin commercial pilot training, you’ll need:

  • Private Pilot License
  • Instrument Rating (recommended)
  • Flight Time: A minimum of 250 total flight hours is required, including:
    • 100 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC)
    • 50 hours of cross-country flying
    • 10 hours of instrument training
    • 10 hours in a complex aircraft (or similar training, depending on aircraft type)
    • Medical Certificate: An FAA Second Class Medical Certificate is necessary to exercise commercial privileges

What You’ll Learn

Our CPL program offers an in-depth curriculum that goes beyond the basics of flight, focusing on advanced skills and procedures essential for professional pilots:

  • Complex Aircraft Operations: Gain experience flying in complex or technically advanced aircraft, learning to manage retractable gear, variable-pitch propellers, and more.
  • Advanced Maneuvers and Precision Flying: Master steep turns, chandelles, lazy eights, and other maneuvers to enhance your precision and control
  • Safety and Emergency Procedures: Build confidence in handling in-flight emergencies, preparing you for any situation as a commercial pilot.
  • Crew Resource Management (CRM): Learn teamwork and communication skills essential for working in a multi-crew environment.
  • Professionalism and Decision-Making: Develop the judgment and professionalism required of commercial pilots, with an emphasis on situational awareness, weather interpretation, and sound decision-making.

Training Structure

Our program includes a blend of ground and flight training, ensuring you gain a comprehensive understanding of both the technical and practical aspects of commercial aviation. You’ll work closely with experienced instructors who will guide you through each phase of training, providing personalized feedback to build your skills and confidence.

Timeline & Flexibility

Most students complete their CPL in 1-3 months (assuming the student has at least 230 hours before beginning CPL training), but we offer flexible scheduling to accommodate different paces and commitments. Training can be adapted to fit your schedule, allowing you to progress at a rate that works best for you.
