Flight Review
Maintain Your Skills and Stay Current
Keeping your flying skills sharp and ensuring your certifications are up-to-date are essential parts of responsible piloting. At SEFT, we offer comprehensive Flight Reviews, Aircraft Checkouts, and Instrument Proficiency Checks (IPC) to help you meet FAA requirements, maintain proficiency, and increase your confidence in the cockpit.
Our experienced instructors provide personalized feedback and training tailored to your needs, helping you fly safely and efficiently.
Flight Reviews (FAR 61.56)
FAA regulations require that every pilot completes a Flight Review every 24 months to retain their certification. Our Flight Reviews cover the essential knowledge and skills needed for safe operation, including:
- Ground Review: We’ll review regulations, airspace, weather interpretation, emergency procedures, and other essential topics to ensure your knowledge is current.
- Flight Review: You’ll practice fundamental maneuvers, takeoffs, landings, and emergency operations to refresh your skills and maintain safety standards.
Our instructors customize the review to focus on your experience level and any specific areas you wish to work on. Once completed, your Flight Review will be endorsed, keeping you in compliance with FAA regulations and confident in your flying abilities.
Aircraft Checkouts
- Our Aircraft Checkouts ensure you’re fully prepared to operate it safely. Checkouts cover aircraft-specific systems, performance characteristics, handling techniques, and emergency procedures, providing the essential training required for safe operation and insurance compliance.
- Rental Checkouts: SEFT requires a checkout for pilots looking to rent our aircraft solo, ensuring you’re prepared and confident in your skills.
- New to an aircraft? Learn more about an individualized transition course, which includes an aircraft checkout.
Instrument Proficiency Checks (IPC)
If you hold an Instrument Rating and haven’t met the currency requirements for instrument flight within the past six months, an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC) is necessary to regain your IFR privileges. An IPC covers essential instrument skills and procedures, including:
- Approaches: Practice a variety of precision and non-precision approaches to build confidence in IFR conditions.
- Holding Patterns: Master standard and non-standard holding patterns for effective course reversal and traffic management.
- Emergency Procedures: Gain proficiency in handling IFR-specific emergencies, from communication failures to weather-related diversions.
- Enroute Navigation: Refresh your skills in navigating safely under IFR conditions, including cross-country and route-planning strategies.
Our IPC is tailored to your needs, ensuring you meet FAA requirements and regain your IFR currency with a focus on safety and confidence.
